The project consists of widening the roadway from two lanes to four 12-foot lanes for a 1.1-mile stretch. This makes South Choctaw four lanes from Airline Highway to the Central Thruway. The improvements also include the installation of roadway lighting, subsurface drainage, and sidewalks on both sides of the roadway. Officials stated, “These improvements will be a significant benefit to this corridor.”
